11월 12일 화요일, 알래스카 앵커리지 대학교(UAA)에서 한국 문화 동아리 창 설을 위한 중요한 첫걸음이 내딛어졌습 니다. 임시로 **KOSA – Korean Student Association(한국 학생 협회)**로 명명된 이 동아리는 한국 문화에 관심 있는 학 생들이 모여 배우고 교류할 수 있는 따 뜻한 공간을 제공하는 것을 목표로 하고 있습니다.

첫 번째 모임은 앵커리지에 위치한 한 국-멕시코 퓨전 레스토랑 **서울 카사 (Seoul Casa)**에서 열렸습니다. 이 모임 에는 KOSA와 앵커리지 한인 커뮤니티 의 차세대(NEXGEN) 회원들이 참석하여 동아리 설립에 필요한 아이디어를 공유 하고, 서로의 열정과 재능을 나누며 이 를 어떻게 동아리 성장에 활용할 수 있 을지 논의했습니다.

특히 차세대 회원들은 새롭게 시작되 는 이 학생 단체를 지역 한인 커뮤니티 가 어떻게 지원할 수 있을지에 대한 조 언과 아이디어를 제공했습니다. 양측 리 더들은 협업 가능성, 이벤트 아이디어, 그리고 KOSA가 성공적으로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 지원할 자원들에 대해 논의 했습니다.

KOSA는 단순한 문화 동아리를 넘어, 언 어와 문화적 장벽으로 인해 종종 고립감 을 느끼는 한국 유학생들이 우정과 커뮤 니티를 형성할 수 있는 공간으로 자리매 김할 것을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 또한, UAA의 다른 학생들도 재미있는 행사, 한국음식,문화교류를통해한국문화 를 탐구할 기회를 제공할 계획입니다.

세계적으로 증가하는 한국 문화에 대한 관심(K-팝, 한국 음식, 한국어 등)에 발 맞추어 KOSA는 다양한 학생들을 끌어 들일 준비를 하고 있습니다. 동아리는 음식과 K-팝, 한국 명절과 관련된 문화 행사를 개최할 계획을 세우고 있습니다.

첫 번째 모임의 성공은 밝은 젊은 학생 들이 앵커리지 대학 내 문화에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며, 알래스카의 한국 유학생 들을돕는중요한역할을할수있음을 보여주었습니다. KOSA는 내년 초 학기 초반에 공식적인 동아리 출범을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 조직과 회원 모집이 계 속 진행됨에 따라, UAA 학생들은 캠퍼 스 생활에 활기를 더할 새로운 동아리를 기대할 수 있을 것입니다.

On Tuesday, November 12th, a significant step was taken toward forming a Korean cultural club at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). The club, tentatively named KOSA—Korean Student Association, aims to provide a welcoming space for students interested in Korean culture to gather, learn, and connect.

The first meeting was held at Seoul Casa, a Korean-Mexican fusion restaurant in Anchorage. Members
of KOSA and the Korean American Community of Anchorage NEXGEN, attended it. The gathering focused on ideas and what was needed to formulate the club and for members to meet each other. They discussed their passions and skill sets and how they could be applied to grow the club.

NEXGEN members joined to share how the Korean community can support this emerging student organization. Leaders from both groups discussed potential collaborations, event ideas, and resources to help KOSA thrive.

KOSA aspires to be more than just a cultural club. It is envisioned as a space where international students from Korea, often isolated due to language and cultural barriers, can find camaraderie and community. The club will also allow other students at UAA to explore Korean culture through fun events, food, and cultural exchanges. With growing interest in Korean culture worldwide, including K-pop, Korean cuisine, and language, KOSA is poised to attract diverse students. Plans for the club include hosting cultural events around food, k-pop, and Korean holiday events.

The first meeting’s success under- scores a potential group of how bright young students can impact the school university culture by helping Korean students in Alaska. KOSA hopes to start the club next semester in the early new year. As the club continues to organize and recruit members, students at UAA can look forward to a vibrant new addition to campus life.
