The Alaska Korean Korean Association held an inauguration ceremony for its new chairman on Saturday, January 13th, starting at 11 a.m. at the Anchorage Korean Community Center. Organized by Andrew Jung, a board member of the elderly association, the event was attended by around 50 community members, including Chairman Kwon Hyuk-jun, the Consul at the Consulate General of Korea, and officials from the elderly association. During the ceremony, the outgoing 25th chairman, Yoon Jae-joong, delivered a speech reflecting on his tenure. Jung Gap-seok was elected as the 26th chairman to serve the elderly association.
In his inaugural address, Chairman Jung Gap-seok stated, “About 90% of our Korean Anchorage community comprises seniors. I will diligently prepare and implement what needs to be done for these elderly individuals. I ask for the continued interest and support of our community members.”
In his congratulatory remarks, Chairman Kwon Hyuk-jun congratulated the outgoing chairman, Yoon Jae-joong, expressing sincere gratitude for his hard work. He then expressed his readiness to cooperate with the new chairman, Jung Gap-seok, whenever necessary.
Consul Park Jung-seok remarked, “I sincerely thank Chairman Yoon Jae-joong for his dedication in leading the Korean Senior Association over the past year,” and expressed hope for a new beginning under the leadership of Chairman Jung Gap-seok.
Following the inauguration ceremony, there was a session to introduce the board members and volunteers, followed by expressions of gratitude to those who contributed. The event concluded with a lunch.
